A Night Of TIESTO

My ears are still suffering from Tiesto's blasting beats Tuesday night. I've always wanted to experience a rave and since I never went to one in Europe, this "show" would have to do. Two buds from Prov enticed me to dress up in bright fluorescent colours and interesting head gear, and go all-out in true "Eurotrash" fashion (who really knows what that means?)... So I accepted and also captured a few moments of our time via my phone. (Vlog down below!)

Without feeling like complete fools because of what we were wearing (including the fan favourite Siberian tiger hat), we had to bring the energy and it was definitely brought. Alternating head gear duty and just ultimately out-dancing everyone around us made that happen. It was truly a good time.

Life Lesson: If you're dressed for the role, you have to play the part.

Initially, we had $20 worth of glow sticks that weren't allowed in (Tiesto's personal rule) and Sharpies to sign our clothing, but even those were confiscated at security. Our time could have been doubly as epic!

Anyways, without further ado...

Notice how I did not include the Selective Reading Label: My Music. I'm not really into Tiesto at all... I've just always wanted to go to a "Eurotrash" rave. So, check that off my bucket list! Plus the guy's a fellow Dutchman! Don't judge me.

School's OUT!

Wow, I can't even describe how happy I am now that my final exams are done with. University is OUT and a change of pace is exactly what I am needing! "Summer" is officially here and I'm loving it, especially because I am completely free to enjoy this NHL & NBA playoff entertaining action that is goin' on.

I start work with the city in a week and a half and am proud to say that I will once again be working with my man Malech! A couple summers ago I blogged about some of our funny work scenarios when we both painted together; but now, thanks to our friend Dan... Malech, my awesome cousin Charles, Dan, and I will be working together for the Insect Control Branch of Winnipeg. Gonna be goooood. I'm sure there'll be some interesting stories to share!

I don't know how many of you played Pokemon on their Gameboys like I did... but as a tribute to being done school, I'll leave you with a hilarious video that my friend Phil shared:

NO MORE HOMEWORK!!!!!! WOOOOOO!!!!

Simple Math (The Music Video)

Manchester Orchestra were wise to put their "Simple Math" music video responsibilities in the hands of a certain directing duo known as the DANIELS. It is eerily creative and intense, check it OUT:

Read the featured article of the premiered video here. It includes an interview with frontman Andy Hull.

The DANIELS were also the ones who created that phenomenal Dogboarding video that's been getting around.

Want to see some more from them?

Holy Ghost!

Of course I find ways to distract myself while studying!

The Hype Machine is a blog featuring music that is blogged about by other blogs (and it's not as confusing as I made it sound). Anyways, being a member has it's perks; one of them including streamed albums and other interesting news straight to your email! BOOM.

Below is a group and their streaming debut album, which I found in one of those emails. Holy Ghost! is their name and they sure know how to groove. Check this OUT!

Groom's Day Golf

The Masters is upon us, so in the spirit of good ol' golf itself, I've put together a golfing vlog. There was no green jacket to be won though; just a little bit of pride... maybe. No matter, it was such a great time that provided a lot of laughs (mostly due to our lack of skill)!

This happened when I was down in AZ for my Italian, Inter-loving friend, Davide's wedding. There were a bunch of us that hit the links with the groom on his big day. With tons of slices, shanks, hooks, hit houses, fores, and a pushy course marshal, it turned out to be quite the fun game. Again, congrats Davide & Mallorie! This one's for you.

Anyways, I threw some segments together and added some good music... Check it:

The course marshal was houndin' us because we were initially delayed at tee-off due to frost being on the greens. If we had played, we "would have damaged them". Turns out that the greens did not need such protection... they were brutal as is. So that pushed us back ~45 minutes! Therefore the marshal trailed us the whole time and tried to make us quit after 9 holes, but we just ignored him, said we paid for 18, and continued with our game. Fun times!

You Are A Tourist

Death Cab for Cutie's new album is coming out at the end of next month! Codes and Keys it's called and "You Are A Tourist" is their featured single in which they just carried out a neat little concept for yesterday, broadcasting it live on youtube. There's more info at youareatourist.com & deathcabforcutie.com/home but if you don't want the hassle, I've got the goods down below.

You can pre-order the album on iTunes
and get a couple extra pre-release treats.

Not bad for a live (music video) performance...

(Well, I tried to provide all of the goods but they made the vid private on youtube so... go check out the live replay at their home site or the finalized product at youareatourist.com! They'll make it public soon enough.)

p.s. Sounds like this album will retain that good ol' Death Cab sound.

2011 Providence Athletics

Again... I'm talkin' about Cam, and again... he's the man.

This time it's about the 2011 Providence Athletics video he filmed and edited, which presents a stunning visual of the college's program (if I do say so myself)!

I luckily had the privilege of playing soccer at Prov for a second season. Again, it was such a blast the second time 'round, and I'm so glad that everything worked out with my courses and such this past fall term. I will hold on to that unreal experience for the rest of my life; the team that surrounded me for those two seasons were like family (and still are). Sadly, due to my degree and limited course selection, I cannot return for future seasons. But I am sure grateful to have two wonderful times there! Cheers.

Here's a quote from Cam (on his blog): "I dare you to watch this and not want to come play at Prov. haha" I totally agree with this statement, bud!
Thanks for this Cam, well done.

See if you can catch my lanky appearances throughout the video.

Enjoy...

A Johnny-On-the-Spot Surprise

... A Johnny G's one that is.

My man Cam (of Nice! Productions and This is not Cam...) had the look of an astonished, shocked, giddy, taken aback child last night as we surprised him at Johnny G's for his birthday. It was a smashing time; we watched a bit of March Madness, shot some pool, danced (while keeping up balloons), and just hung out all night. Good times.

He couldn't believe how this plan had developed under his nose the whole time. It worked out perfectly. Thanks to Eric & Jen for plannin' the shindig! They also got a bunch of us to contribute some money to get a sweet camera for the man and his filming! Look out for slick vids.

Life Lesson: Someone who is purposefully surprised for the sake of good times... is never a fool.

Cam's no April Fool, but he is an April Baby who was born a day after. Cheers man!

An April Fool

Everyone is the biggest skeptic on April Fools day. I hate this day because of that constant feeling of disbelief and hesitance.

Anyways, I did like it this year because Manchester Orchestra revealed their song "April Fool". So I know it's two days past but... Enjoy!
