I have finished a week of working as a painter now. I love it. There's nothing more satisfying or relaxing than stroking that brush or rolling that roller in order to finish your masterpiece coat. Plus on fridays I get let off an hour and a half early but still get paid full! Brilliant. Also, it is easy to strike up a conversation with my boss/the only other guy I work with because he is a music and sports fanatic just like me! I still need to go out and buy my white painting attire though.
Now that I'm working I can finally say what I'm doing for the summer. When people ask you what you're doing for the summer, all they really want to know is where you are working (for some sociologically based reason probs [probably]). When I'm unemployed (most of the time) I feel uncomfortable or embarrassed during a "What-are-you-doing-for-the-summer?" conversation because I don't have a job and therefore say: "Playing soccer, hangin' out... you know".
So anyways, during the past week I have had at least 5 episodes where the same conversation has played out. Here is the basic dialogue pooled together from all 5:
Opponent - "Hey Manny, what are you doing this summer?"
Manny - "I'm actually painting for a couple months and then working at Prov Sports Camps!"
Opponent - "What are you painting?.... Portraits?! Hahahahaha!"
Manny - "I wish. No *chuckle* actually interior/exterior residential houses and some commercial buildings as well."
Opponent - "Oh cool, for College Pro?"
Manny - "No, actually I work for Chromatic Painting."
Peter K. - "OH so like traumatic painting..."
Manny - "Yeah... *chuckle* but we do a really good job."
There you go. I'm not fed up with it at all, College Pro is just more popular and I am in University so it is the first thing that comes to mind (again another sociological reason)!
p.s. The woman at the house we are now at shockingly resembles Renee Zellweger! Unreal.
p.s.s. TMP youth lock-in tonight! Stay tuned for an 80's rockin' blog.
